Early Language Guidance Service

You might be here because:

You have a child aged between 2 and 4 years old and (in regards to their speech and language development):

  • You’ve been told to “wait and see”, but something still doesn’t feel right.

  • Your child understands well but isn’t talking much yet (or is difficult to understand).

  • Other parents say “they’ll talk when they’re ready” and you’re not sure.

  • There’s a family history of speech/language delay, autism, or ADHD.

  • You want to understand what’s typical, what’s variable, and what to watch for.

Trusting your instincts doesn’t mean assuming something is wrong, it means seeking understanding.

The early language guidance service is a speech & language check-in. It is a single, consultative appointment designed to give parents clarity and reassurance about their child’s communication development.

It is not a formal assessment or therapy.
It is a chance to:

  • Talk through your concerns

  • Understand developmental norms

  • Observe your child in a play-based clinic environment

  • Receive professional guidance and clear next steps

  • This service is suited for parents and caregivers of children aged 2–4 years who:

    • Have questions or concerns about their child’s speech, language, or communication development

    • Have been advised to “wait and see” but are seeking clearer information and guidance

    • Have a family history of developmental delay, autism, ADHD, or speech and language differences

    • Are noticing uneven or emerging communication skills and want to understand what this might mean

    • Would like specialist professional input to share with their GP

    • Are looking for a one-off, consultative appointment rather than assessment or ongoing therapy

This service is designed to provide clarity, reassurance, and informed next steps in a supportive clinic environment.

  • This service may not be the best fit for families who:

    • Are seeking a formal speech pathology assessment or diagnosis

    • Are looking for ongoing therapy or intervention at this time

    • Require immediate support for significant feeding, swallowing, or safety concerns

    • Are seeking confirmation of a diagnosis (e.g. autism or developmental language disorder)

    • Are wanting Medicare-rebated or NDIS-funded services

    • Have children outside the 2–4 year age range

If further assessment or therapy is recommended following the consultation, this can be discussed, however there is no expectation or obligation to proceed.
